Working our way up the staircase to step four! Age 3 is our Preschool. This class provides the freedom and opportunity for children to develop and grow in independence and confidence. While having fun, they aren't even aware they are learning and advancing their self to prepare for Pre- Kindergarten. In addition, your child will gain the social skills necessary to succeed in the next step. Our teachers focus on every child as an individual enabling them to gain knowledge, thrive, and to be successful while getting prepared to embark on the next step. During this step we use the developmental continuum by accomplishing the benchmarks of the following: Recognizes personal feelings. Controls impulses with reminders, recognizes when the typical routine is not followed and identifies the change, plays cooperatively with others and begins to share. Asks adult to help solve social problems, uses fingers to grasp and manipulate drawing/writing tools with increasing control, identifies food and serves a portion into bowl or plate. Follows a routine of rest and active play, Describes the function of basic body parts. Regulates toileting and handwashing needs. Describes how s/he feels and the location of pain, identifies words that have a similar beginning sound, draws lines, circles or shapes and explains who or what they represent, Creates and counts groups of up to five objects. Removes objects from the group as prompted and recounts, Describes the routines, familiar stories, traditions, foods and celebrations of own family and community, describes basic physical properties of objects and materials in immediate environment, Describes and demonstrates multiple ways to move body parts. Moves to the beat of a song.
