Twaddlers Curriculum

It continues at step two with our Twaddlers.  Ages 6 months to walking our Twaddlers are experiencing their environment even more now through their senses (seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling and feeling). As they grow, they become more independent and begin to interact more and more with each other. We encourage their independence and exploration, while recognizing their needs for reassurance when customizing their curriculum for each child individually. At step two on the Developmental Continuum  we will support the child by, showing a range of emotions with facial expressions and gestures, manipulates objects with purpose, such as feeding self with a spoon, purposefully grasps and releases objects. Makes random marks with writing tools, responds to possible dangers in environment and avoids them when prompted, Carries, drags, kicks and tosses objects, communicates when hungry, thirsty, or tired, Recognizes the difference between dirty and clean. Points to body parts when prompted, When prompted, identifies familiar people or objects, Identifies a familiar object or person when shown a drawing or photo, Says one- to two-word sentences, Repeats the last word in familiar rhymes when prompted, With prompts and gestures, follows a one-step direction, Demonstrates an understanding of one, two and more, With help, participates in family traditions and customs, Explores people and their features side by side in a book or a mirror, Participates in communal activities, Participates in taking care of some personal needs, such as feeding self., Uses senses to explore environment, Identifies and names familiar people, characters and animals, Understands hot and cold. Points at clouds and explores the feel of rain and wind, Repeats words in familiar songs and attempts to sing, uses hands and feet to explore a variety of media, Scribbles, colors or paints intentionally on paper, responds to changes in sound, rhythm, volume or melody, uses purposeful gestures and body language to communicate.
